A Head Start on More Ribbon Baubles

A busy craft-fair prep day, with a head start on two new folded ribbon baubles: burgundy and gold-star satin with champagne glitter, and copper glitter with star-printed white.

A Head Start on More Ribbon Baubles

Better late than never with today's journal entry! It has been one of those non-stop days here in the craft room, spent finishing off everything for this weekend's craft fair — but before the day ran away with me completely, I managed to get a head start on two more of my handmade ribbon decorations.

Here they are, side by side on the work table. The first pairs a rich burgundy satin ribbon, printed all over with little gold stars, with a champagne-gold glitter ribbon that catches the light wonderfully. The second is a warmer look: copper-gold glitter ribbon folded together with a soft white satin sprinkled with tiny gold stars. Neither is finished yet — there are still folds to place, bows to tie and a hanging loop to add — but the woven, pinecone-like pattern is already taking shape beautifully.

If you've read my earlier journal entries you'll know how these come to life: each bauble starts as a plain polystyrene ball, and the ribbon is folded into neat little triangles and attached one fold at a time with sequin pins until the whole surface is covered. It's slow, fiddly, satisfying work, and no two baubles ever turn out quite the same.

These two will be joining everything else on the stall this weekend, alongside the finished baubles, ribbon wreaths, bows and crochet decorations. You can find dates and details of my upcoming fairs on my events page — do come along and say hello if you're nearby. And if you can't make it to a market, keep an eye on the shop: once these two are finished and photographed, they may well appear there too.

Thank you as always for reading. Wish me luck for the weekend — and wish my sequin pins a rest!
