Meet the Snowman Family — Styling a Homemade Christmas Corner

One tall, one small, one hanging: how to build a handmade snowman Christmas corner from three pieces that pack away flat.

Meet the Snowman Family — Styling a Homemade Christmas Corner

To finish the week, a confession: I do not really make snowmen, I make a snowman family. There are now enough of them in my craft room that they have opinions. This journal entry is about putting them all together — and how easy it is to build a Christmas corner that looks collected rather than bought.

A family of handmade crochet snowmen gathered together as a group

The rule I follow is one tall, one small, one hanging. The freestanding snowman at £10 anchors the scene on a shelf or the mantelpiece. The tree ornament at £7 swings above him from a branch or a hook. Add a ribbon pudding or two nearby and the corner is done — three handmade pieces, one story.

Because everything is cotton and fabric, the whole scene packs away flat in one box at Twelfth Night and comes out next year exactly the same. That is the quiet promise of handmade: it keeps.

If you are starting your collection this year, the snowman family is the friendliest place to begin — they suit any colour scheme, they make children point, and they are light and safe to post anywhere in the world.

Both are in the shop now: the freestanding snowman here and the hanging snowman here. Thank you, as ever, for reading the journal — and happy Christmas-corner building!
