On the Work Table This Week: Tartan, Red Satin and a Big Fair
A work-in-progress peek at my table this week: tartan and red satin baubles mid-fold, and a big craft fair this weekend.

This week the journal is a peek behind the scenes rather than a finished piece. My work table currently looks like a ribbon explosion, and sitting right in the middle of it is the bauble in this photo: red satin and classic green tartan, folded and woven by hand, with the polystyrene shape still showing through where the final folds will go. She is nearly there — a few more folds, a ribbon hanger, and she is done.

Why the rush? My next craft fair is this weekend, and the run-up to a fair is my favourite kind of chaos. There are baubles in various stages of completion, piles of tartan ribbon waiting their turn, and a strict rule that every piece gets finished properly rather than quickly. This tartan and red satin combination is one I keep coming back to — it is the same pairing you can see in my red and tartan bauble in the shop, and it looks just as good on a real tree as it does on my table.
The tartan ribbons themselves are from my own supply — the same quality ribbon I sell by the roll in the Supplies section, in 25mm and a wider 34mm, if you fancy a bit of festive folding of your own.
If you are local to Devon, do come and say hello at the fair this weekend — the handmade pieces always look better in person, and I love meeting the people who give them new homes. And if you cannot make it, everything finished lands in the online shop afterwards.
Thank you, as ever, for reading the journal — and wish my needles (and my thumbs) luck for Saturday!
