Yellow Fabric Tulips — A Jar of Sunshine

If the pink tulips are the ones people pick up, the yellow ones are the ones people smile at. There is something about that colour in a gloomy week that does the work of a lamp. This journal entry is all about my yellow fabric tulips.

Each stem is £4 and comes in two cottons: a plain, cheerful yellow, or a mottled yellow print with a bit of depth to it. Both have the green felt leaf wrapped on the stem and the tiny pearl detail at the tip of each petal — my signature finishing touch on all the tulip family.

Yellow tulips earn their place all year round. In spring they sit happily with the daffodils; in the darker months they are the bit of brightness on the kitchen windowsill that makes the washing-up marginally more bearable.

Choose plain or mottled from the drop-down menu here — and remember they are sold per stem, so you can build exactly the posy you want. Four or five stems in a small jug is a lovely gift that will still be bright next year.

Made by hand in Devon, posted UK and worldwide. Thank you for reading the journal — I hope your week has some yellow in it!
